who was a rock star today? bill and judy, that's who. chris's awesome parents came into the city today and helped us finish packing. the biggest packing job remaining was the kitchen, and they packed all our plates, bowls, flatware, appliances, and everything. chris and i really love to cook so we have accumulated a LOT of kitchenware over the last few years, so this was no small feat. judy also brought all manner of packing materials, which was amazing (especially because chris and i had even run out of newspaper by this time, and had been reduced to stealing the chinese-language free newspaper from the davis square dispensers). on top of that, they helped us wrap our mattress and box spring in waterproof sheets to protect them, and then helped us maneuver them down two flights of stairs and into the pod. we are SO grateful for their help and patience and can't wait for them to visit us in cali.
we also had a wonderful evening with some pals from boston who came to see us off. laughing a lot was a really good thing tonight.
my folks arrive in the morning to help us actually arrange the pod so that our stuff doesn't get tossed around in there. our apartment is looking emptier and emptier, and this whole crazy plan we hatched a long time ago is finally becoming a reality.
